American Football (NFL, NCAAF, etc)
American Football Quick Guide π
Welcome to the SBX American Football Quick Guide β your go-to for understanding key betting terms and rules for NFL and College Football (NCAAF). Whether you're new or just need a refresher, this guide has you covered.
Common American Football Betting Terms:
πΉ Match Betting (Moneyline) π°
Betting on the winner of the match.
Includes overtime unless stated otherwise.
If a match ends in a tie and no winner is declared (very rare in NFL), bets may be void or settled as a push depending on the market.
πΉ Points Spread (Handicap) π
One team is given a points advantage or disadvantage.
Example:
New England Patriots -6.5
Buffalo Bills +6.5
If you bet on Patriots -6.5, they must win by 7 or more points for the bet to win.
πΉ Total Points (Over/Under) π’
You bet on whether the total combined score will be over or under a set number.
Includes points scored in overtime.
Example: Over 47.5 β your bet wins if the final score totals 48+.
πΉ Quarter & Half Betting π
You can bet on outcomes within each quarter or half.
1st Quarter Winner, 1st Half Total Points, etc.
These markets only include the selected period β overtime does not count.
πΉ Touchdown Scorers πββοΈ
Bet on which player will score a touchdown.
Anytime Touchdown Scorer: Player must score a touchdown during the game (including overtime).
First Touchdown Scorer: Player must score the first touchdown of the game. If no touchdown is scored, bets may be voided depending on the sportsbookβs rules.
πΉ Player Props π
Bets on individual player stats β passing yards, rushing yards, receptions, etc.
Example: Patrick Mahomes Over 270.5 passing yards
These are settled based on official league stats and include overtime unless stated.
π Delayed/Postponed/Abandoned Games π
If a game is postponed or suspended, bets remain valid if it's played within 5 days of the original date.
If abandoned after starting, bets are void unless the outcome has already been determined (e.g., First Touchdown Scorer).
Some player props may be voided if the player is inactive or doesnβt take part.
Final Tips π
Double-check whether overtime is included in your selected market.
Be aware of player injuries and team updates before placing prop bets.
College Football can be high-scoring β totals may differ greatly from NFL games.

What happens if the game goes to Overtime?
As a general rule, all bets include overtime unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Some notable exceptions which do not include overtime:
Double Result - Predict the result at half-time and the end of regulation time.
1st Quarter/Match Result - Predict the result at the end of the 1st Quarter and the end of regulation time.
What happens if my player gets injured?
Where your bet outcome is determined by player performance, the chance of an injury is unfortunately an inherent risk of sports betting.
All bets placed will stand where an injury occurs.
